Our Vegetable Garden

We have been working in our back yard the last few weekends. We started a vegetable garden. This Memorial Day weekend did not do as much as we wanted because Gordon had to work in a TAGnet project with India. But he was done by noon Monday so we had the afternoon to go to Lowe's and purchase some of the material we need to set up an irrigation system for the back yard. This way we can go on vacation and our garden still be wittered every day.
We have also been bringing rocks for our back yard. The place in Fallbrook where Gordon has gotten a good deal is not open on Sundays and closes at 4:00p.m. very weed day. Since Gordon works later than that Monday-Thursday, he can go only on Friday because he works until 3:00 p.m. on Fridays. He is using his car to bring the rocks over and his car can only take so much. So far he had made four Friday rock trips. We think we might need one more trip to cover the areas we want.

My New Teaching Job!

Monday morning May 7, I received a call from Doug Herrmann(one of the Southeastern California Conference School Superintendent) to invite me to a 6:00 p.m. interview at the Murrieta SDA School for Thursday May 10. That Thursday I went to the interview. It was scary because it was a group interview with their school board and parents. There was also six of us teachers interviewing for the position that evening, so there was the pressure of competition. Five out of the six teachers schedule to interview came. It was a strange situation to meet each other as we waited. I was the first one to be called in to interview. I answered every question they asked me honestly and with one, two and sometimes three examples. I think the interview lasted about 30 minutes. On my way out I wished the other teachers waiting "good luck" and left. The interview seemed like a glimpse after it was over.

The next morning around 8:50 a.m. I received a call from Dough Herrmann and he said; "The Murrieta school will like to invite you to join their staff; Would you accept?" I responded saying, "What are you saying?" He then say, "After a long meeting and much prayer they decided to offer the position to you. You got the job! Then I said, I accept!

I called Gordon and my family with the news. After two years of waiting, I can't believe it can just happened so fast. I will be teaching a classroom of 1st and 2nd graders next school year.
Thank you to all my family and friends that prayed for my interview to go well. And it did! I got the job!!!

Thank you God for giving me a place to serve. Now I need Your guidance and wisdom to make the contributions you need me to make in the lives of the children in my care and their families.

We celebrated with lunch at the Inka Grill (Perubian food) on Saturday and Sunday with a "Mango Feast". We bought big mangos at Costco. They were delicious!. I, alone ate three of them. The picture above is after we had already eaten two mangos. Sunday, we also went to the Temecula Olive Oil Company and purchace a bottle of Rosted Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil that we like to put on our food. The oils are made in a Temecula olive oil farm. They grow, produce and sell top quality California extra virgin olive oils of various flavours and wine.

Lost our Internet connection

We lost our Internet connection for about a week and three days. It is a strange feeling to be disconnected. We learned that being connected is a major need in our daily lives. Well, we knew this already, but one thing is knowing it and another experiencing it.

We had our Verizon FiOS (fiber-optic line) install yesterday evening. WE ARE CONNECTED TO THE WORLD AGAIN!!!

Saddleback Church

After our great time at the Balboa Peninsula we hurried to the Saddleback Church to attend their 6:30 church service(they have 3 Saturday services and 3 Sunday services). This 6:30pm Sunday service is the last one of the weekend.
They have a big campus. To get in, I felt like we were entering Disneyland parking or something because there were parking attendance directing the traffic to the different parking lots around their campus. The place where they had us parked was a walk away from their main sanctuary. There were outdoors speakers as we walked to their sanctuary for people to hear the church service that had already started.
Their service had three parts. The first part was a good half hour of praise songs by Scott Reed. The second part was the sermon and the Third part was a couple praise songs by Scott Reed and a final appeal by the pastor with a prayer.
The music by Scott Reed was great and the sermon was also great. The theme for the weekend was "Stopping To Refuel" Following I will quote three verses that the pastor used in his sermon;
1-Somethings must change...emptiness isn't working for me. "This is what the Lord says: "Stan at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient path, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and will find rest for your souls". Jeremiah 6:16
2-I have a soul that wants to be filled.
"And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process? Is anything worth more than your soul? Matthew 16"26
3- My Soul-filling is an investment in eternity.
"Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away for the Lord. We live by faith not by sight." 2Corinthians 5:6-7
He ended his sermon talking about that everyday we need to STOP, BE QUIET, and MAKE a CONNECTION(refuel). We need to turn off our external connections so we can turn on our internal connections.

Fountain stairs that lead up to their main sanctuary.

Inside their sanctuary during the praise singing part of the service. You can see Scott Reed standing at the far left playing his guitar. He is wearing a red shirt. As you can see there was a small orchestra, back up singers, a piano, a keyboard, two guys in guitars as well.

Our Visit to Balboa Peninsula

This Sunday we decided to go to the Saddleback church to hear Scott Reed(an SDA singer). We took Hwy 15 to 91 to 55 that takes us to the cost. But when at 91 we ran into a huge traffic back up(accident) that made us late to make it to the service we were planning to go. So we took a detour and went to Balboa Peninsula. We have never visited this area and it is a beautiful. There was not a cloud in the sky, perfect blue sky in about 78F temperature. This is what I call a perfect day.

People having fun at the beach

We walked the pear

A little window shopping in Main Street

I liked this dress, but did not like the price.

We always have our chairs in the car. So we went to Balboa Point and walk the beach looking for a shaded place to sit and read.

At the end of Balboa Point was a park. Here, we found the perfect place to open our chairs and read.

Gordon read much more than I did

A Great view at all the angles

Close to the water. I can stay here for ever:-)

BBQ at Matt and Heidi's Place

Our Friends Matt and Heidi Aimonetti invited us to a Sabbath afternoon BBQ at their Place. Jason and Heidi Decena and their little boy Luke also came. Jason is the youth pastor at the Escondido church. (There are two Heidis. One is Heidi Aimonetti and the other is Heidi Decena).

Matt is from France and Heidi is from Bolivia and raised in the USA, but Heidi has adopted the French culture very well. They had recently moved here from France in December. They tell us that in the French culture friends often get together for BBQs. Matt had a lot sweet treats from France to share with us.

The pictures is after we stuffed ourselves and came inside and hang out until late.

Thanks guys, we had a fun Sabbath afternoon with you:-) When will we do it again?
