Railtown 1897 State Historic Park

Sunday, after visiting Maria we went to Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown just a few minutes from Sonora. We have been there before and visiting the museum part of this place but have not done the train ride yet. When we got there the train was leaving so we decided to purchase our tickets for then next train.

Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is located in Jamestown, the heart of California's Gold County. It is one of only two preserved steam-era shortline railroad roundhouse complexes in the United States; once there were hundreds of them.

Railtown 1897 is home to the Historic Jamestown shops and Roundhouse-an intact and still-functioning steam locomotive repair and maintenance facility, dating back to 1897.
There they also have many trains that have been use by Hollywood in movies. We saw those last time we were here when we went through the museum part.

Having our root beers while we wait for the train.

Close up of the western theme root beer drink.

Just about to enter the train.

Choosing our seats in the train. Once inside, the roof seem higher than what I thought.

Amor took this picture of us in our seats in the train.

Amor went to the very front of the train and manage to take a shot of the conductors as you see in the picture above. We also went to the very back. It was noisy back there but it was fun to watch the rail way as we travel.
There was also a gentleman playing some live violin music of the 1897 time for us.

Here we are just before we got off the train. It was a fun ride. We were hungry so from here we went to Jamestown Main Street to find a place for dinner.
